Which Library to join?

Post by Wendyem »

Some advice please, I am in Australia but would like to join a Liverpool Library online. Tried ,but all of the Libraries offered were a confusion as they didn't match with names I know of Liverpool /W.Derby.

My Families of Mitchell & Price lived in Toxteth Park-- Price in Blundellsands in 1911, Gt.Uncle Thomas Mitchell died Liscard Aged Mariners Home but buried Toxteth Park 1910.
Suspect his Son William J.Mitchell died in 1917 L'pool. He lived at London Rd 1911. Pub Manager.
I would like to try for old newspapers to indulge in a little more searching.

Which Library would be the one to join please. Is the William Morris Rd one an option? Your help much appreciated.

cheers Wendyem :?

Hi Wendyem
From the wild west, look out you are copping our weather next...
Have you joined the National Oz Library..
You can access Gale Newspaper site & read all the old Lpool Mercury papers & lots more.
If you have a local library card in S.A, here is the link.

Cheers

If you need to join a library in Liverpool, the Central Library must be the one, as it gives access to all the city's branch libraries. I do not know how you set about it. It is in William Brown Street and Googling Liverpool Libraries will get it for you, or use this:
http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Leisure_and ... /index.asp

There is a separate address for the main catalogue:

The branch libraries do not hold archive material.

If it's the online 19th C newspapers you want, including the Mercury, the details of joining the Lancashire library is here http://liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/phpBB ... php?t=6962 which gives you access to Old Newspapers online.

Good one Tina, thank you. I didn't realise that, thought it only UK cards could do that.
re Weather, always seems to die off before it gets to us.Gentle sprinkles are our lot.

MAry A. & Daggers, bless your buttons. I shall perhaps try them both perhaps they'll lead me to the same place.

Many thanks. I'm off ahunting.
