Have found further information about Ernest Fowler from the 1906 Canadian Census...
1906 Census Page Data District: SK Qu'Appelle 15 Subdistrict: 31 - ( Townships 15, 16, 17 in ranges 13, 14 and township 18 in range 13, all west of the 2nd M, excepting the Town of Indian Head) Page 34
Line Family # Name Relationship ********** M/S Age Immigrated Location
22 286 Fowler Ernest Servant M S 22 1903 Section 32 Township 14 Range 14 Meridian 2
Would be very grateful if someone take a look at the 1901 UK Census for him and if any one has access to the Passenger Lists for ships going to Canada in 1903 I would be doubly grateful....not sure if the 'Meridian' is the ship he sailed on.
Regards and thanks if anyone can help

Hi
The best match is
Ernest Fowler aged 18 departed Liverpool on 20 November 1902 for Halifax Canada on the ship Tunisian. He was single and a labourer.
This is from the transcription fewer credits than the actual crew lists. You can buy pay as you go credits for the find my Past site.
Meridan would not be the ship but the position of the township.
The 1911 Canadian census may give more information.
Do you know where Ernest was born? This would help for finding him on an English census. You can probably access Ancestry in your local library.

Hi Ed Officer,
Have found an Ernest Fowler born Pontefract Dec 1882...but need more details before we can be certain ( am doing this research with 'cousin' in Canada) he is checking the Canadian archives....even found probable parents William Fowler and Emma Agnes Gricks from Tadcaster...No trace of Ernest on the 1911 Canadian Census.
The mystery is where he was between 1906 and 1914...we have his Army Attestation Records when he signed up for the Canadian Army.
Thanks for the passenger list information will follow that up on Find my past.
If we can find him on the UK 1901 census then it would give the info on his household.
We know Millicent Downey (who became his wife) was living in High Barnet prior to emigrating to Canada to get married - no idea why she had moved from Liverpool so maybe Ernest met her during or after WW1..
So many questions about this mysterious couple but great to be getting some answers
Thanks

Hi
Glad your making progress with the search
I think this is the birth registration for Ernest a bit late!
Ernest Fowler March Q 1883 Great Ouseburn Registration district volume 9a page 85
Great Ouseburn covers Staveley it was all in the North Riding of Yorkshire
Pontefact is too far south.
Hope this helps
