LRO marriage lookup request...
LRO marriage lookup request...
Hello folks,
I wonder if anyone would be amazingly kind and look up a marriage for me please, if they're in the locality of LRO?
The details are as follows :
Q: July August September 1882
Edge Hill, Christ Church
William Henry Burns married Sarah Robertson.
Hopefully, William's father should be one rather notorious Harriman Burns and William may be a widow at that stage too.
The William is my great, great grandfather if the details above are confirmed. I recently found him on the 1891 census with this new wife's name, previously he'd been married to a Mary Ann Thompson, though I can find no trace of their marriage anywhere.
Normally I'd go myself but I'm laid low with a heart complaint at the moment sadly....
Thank you everyone for your time and kindest regards to you all.

Hi Carole
With regard to the death you found for Mary A.
In 1871 she is listed as 25yrs of age bn Manchester.
So something is way out, therefore it could be her death if no one knew exactly how old she was...
Good luck

Hi let me run this by everyone, the harriman and william 1861 are young wills grandfather and uncle, on the 1851 cesus there is a harriman senior born 1816 and harriman jnr born 1842/3 which i think is williams father. still looking for them on a census together i think we have two different families or the wrong wedding cert Irene
Too early to have them together on the 1841 census. Transcribed Harrison but definitely is Harriman.

Apologies for the delayed response to this thread, and thanks to everyone for your help thus far...
The mystery goes on really. And I'll start at the very beginning of this query....
My Great Grandmother was Emma Burns - born circa 1880 in Liverpool apparently. I've been unable to trace a birth cert for her at this stage.
Her marriage entry from the parish records lists her father as William Burns, Painter.
On the 1881 census Emma is listed with her father William Burns, born c1845, her mother Mary A Burns born c1853 in Manchester and a few other kids, Henry, Edward, Eliza and Lucy Burns.
I have Henry's birth certificate. He was born William Henry Burns on 19/12/1868 at 3 Sutcliffe St, Manchester - mother Mary Ann Thompson.
I cannot find any trace of their marriage, if indeed there was a marriage. And in 1891 his wife appears to be a Sarah Ann?
Interestingly, William Burns born c1845's father was a Harriman Burns, as you've all said. He killed his wife and was committed to Broadmoor in 1865 where he later died.
I have Harriman's children as :
Edward
John
Harriman
William
Robert
Eliza
Walter
Harriman and William never appear on the same census at the same time however, and Harriman junior vanishes without trace (no trace of a marriage or death) - which leads me to believe that William Burns, born c1845 was in fact born Harriman Burns and changed his name to disguise his father's notoriety perhaps?
