The Masseys of Winwick
The Masseys of Winwick
Hi, I write ll the way from down under and wondering if I could ask for advice on finding my long lost British family.
My Great Grandmother Margaret Massey is the daughter of Isaac Massey b. 1850.
His father is Isaac Massey b. 1817 in Winwick and his father was William Massey b 1797 also born in Winwick
We then have a Henry Massey as the father of William Massey b 1797.
As the town was quite small, I thought it would be available on line but I cant find anthing further back.
Is thee anyone who could be of assistance?
Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forum

I know we've got at least one other MASSEY thread on the forum at the moment. I'm just going to do a little search and post the links.
Be back soon, Kirsty

Help...
Hi,
Can anyone reading (especially a moderator/administrator) help me out here.
Normally with a thread like this I would look in my transcripts of PR's and post anything relevant/helpful.
I know I've got information relevant and helpful to "bakerthebulletdodger’s" initial post but am hesitant to post it after considering copyright issues.
The thing is Winwick, St. Oswald PR's are "out-there" and freely and publicly available. Granted, my source isn't a record office. But have we got to the point where I/we can't post baptisms and so on?
I’m feeling frustratingly constrained and just don’t know what to do anymore.
Please, anyone, a word or two of advice.
Many thanks, Kirsty

Hello and a big thank you to Susan and Tina
,
I'm going for my duster
From the PR's of Winwick, St. Oswald:
B. 09/06/1797
Bapt. 21/07/1797
William son of Henry MASSEY of Culcheth
It looks like this line of MASSEY's were from Culcheth. I'll see it I can dig/dust anything else up
.

Newchurch, Culcheth
Only me again...
From the PR's of Newchurch, Culcheth:
Buried: 25/04/1820
Henry MASSEY of Culcheth, age 52
So, the above burial would give us a birth year of c. 1768.
I've not found any more children of a Henry MASSEY in either the PR's of Winwick, St. Oswald or Newchurch, Culcheth (for the dates I checked).
