Hi, thanks Jan :D , I have missed having access to old newspapers. I have just managed to log on but it would not accept British with a capital B, it needs to be british all in lower case.

Sorry Julie,

I just used a capital B for the correct spelling of British, I didn't realise it would be lower case.

I have just typed in the word Liverpool in the search and no newspaper name and between years 1900 and 1903, there is a paper that has illustrations some great pictures of fashions etc, but not a Liverpool newspaper

Have fun.

Has anyone got the Liverpool Mercury after 1900? I have only managed that year and no later.
Thanks for the new link, anyway, as the old one is now slamming the door.

I typed in on my address bar 19th Century British Library Newspapers and the site came up.

I don't know if The Liverpool Mercury is on there after 1900, I don't think it is.

The only way I know of at present is to apply for a Lancashire Library card, which they seem to allow regardless of where you live

Hi Lil,

If you have a Lancashire library card, go to the site

http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/lancs?db=BNCN

Type in the barcode numbers on your library card.

I got one a couple of weeks ago, works great.

Thanks to MaryA putting us in the picture for this one

Roy,

The link I first put on was an old link, if you follow MaryA's link, apply for a lancashire library card on the site, they will send one out to you within a few days, then go to new link I have put on (in the message to Lil, then you will be able to log in using the barcode number on the library card Lancs library send to you.

They will ask you what library you want to use, I just put Ormskirk as my choice.

Hope that helps.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the info. I've applied on line and now await my card. They sent me a temporary number which I've tried as a password on the newspaper site but it doesn't work, so I'll wait and see what happens when my card comes through, thanks again,

Hi Jan,
Thank you for that information. I'm not sure what the site can help with, but it's always worth a try :D
