Hi I am helping a friend locate an ancestor.

The person was Andrew Carroll a Ship Repairer. I have been told he had a ship repairers yard on the dock road in the 1950s and moved to Regent Road.

Hello Teresa

My husband worked along the Dock Road for a ship repair company and remembers Andrew Carroll's.He said if he remembers correctly Carroll's moved to the top end of Regent Street/Great Howard Street [ not Road ] and it ceased trading about 20yrs ago.[ish] It's now a BMW car repair garage.

I believe the person you are researching could be my great grandfather or GG Grandfather, anyway my grandfather was John Carroll and ran the business in the 50-60s, I used to go to the offices with him sometimes when I was a kid.

Just thought I would clarify things, the Andrew Carroll I am related started the company Andrew Carroll Ltd who were ship scrapers and scalers and had offices in Regent St and then moved to Park Lane. I do not know a great deal about Andrew but do know about John Carroll my grandfather who ran the business.
