Hi Colette
you have opened up a whole new world for me with this searching through streets business :) . I've gone into Burlington St. at random and am finding it very difficult to read some of the names on most of the pages. This has given me hope, knowing that the transcribers have made so many mistakes, they may have just missed out on the Lennons because their name is so illegible - even when its clearly written  .
So... no doing anything else for the next few days (except maybe the odd rest for my eyes) until I find something.
Thanks
Tony

Census

Post by colette »

Hi Tony i could be they were not at home at the time and maybe new neighbours either side who didnt know there names birth places ages etc.... i guess that could happen.

But when you think of it i guess alot of those census papers were ruined with pure age..

Enjoy roaming through the old streets haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa rest the eyes every 20 mins.. and dont forget you can jump by changing the image number at the top to get to the street quicker..

Hi Tony

If it's any help I scrolled through Burlington St in 1891, that's how I originally found Tom Lennon, living so close to Peter. Didn't do any other census years though.

Good Luck :D

Thanks Simone I'll make sure I don't do that one again.

Hi Colette
Once again thank you for your hard work on this and thank your friend Tony for me.

I'm not sure what conclusions to reach from all of this; it'll take me some time to digest it properly.

On Thomas Lemon and Mary Devitts marriage cert. from 1846 they were living in School Lane. Was it School Lane or was it Thomas St you found Lennons living on the 1841. Is this the School Lane off Hanover Street in town or another one?
Incidently, (and I'm presuming you already know this address from last year's search) I took Thomas St to read Thomas's Street meaning that when Mary was asked where she was living by the registrar she replied "Thomas's Street" (as in living in the same street as Thomas).

I have both Peter Lennon's birth and baptism certs. His Baptism took place in Holy Cross Church (wherever that is/was).
Ann McAndrew was the only Godparent.

Thanks
Tony

School Lane ran right across the back of St Peters Church were the blue cross hospital was... Thomas St was just accross the way from School Lane..

Makes me wonder why they never married at St Peter's when they could see it from were they were living..

It could be Thomas was lodging at some point with John who could be his brother.. as his dad was a John...and this is how he met Mary Devitt..

All speculation isnt it.. i am starting to think Peter went by another pet name as a child..

Thomas & Mary must have had a son named John or James even after there fathers wouldnt you think.. and maybe one had a brother named Peter..

Hi Sue
Its Tithebarn Street in the Dale Street area.
I found her there and am currently on page 15 of 39 (district 16) in that area for the 1871.
There is another Ann McAndrew but she's in Toxteth.

Hi Collette
the only School Lane I can find in my 1904 maps is the one in town (I don't have an index so maybe I've missed it. What's the nearest big road?
Where was Holy Cross Church?

Thanks

Hi Tony/Sue/Colette

Holy Cross Church was Great Crosshall Street. It closed in 2001.

Hi

I am just going to flick through district 15, in 1841, where I found John Bradly, witness to marriage, and the too old Thomas Lemon. As long as no one else has done it.

I'll start anyway and check back in a mo.

Well, only found an Ann Lemon age 60 in Plumb Street. That is as well as the Thomas Lemon age 60. He is also in Plumb Street, but they are not together. Ann is with Sarah Chatterton, age 6.

Ann Lemon HO107 555 13 27 46
Thomas Lemon HO107 555 13 18 29

Hi Tony School Lane was the street than ran behind Church St off Paradise St.. by the Blue Coat Chambers..

Reason i asked if it says School Lane or School Place is because there was a School Place by Johnson St Long ago...
