Hi all
there's a lot for me to take in since I last visited so I'll just answer a few things.

The Kirkham Lennons I know about - I don't think its them since they turn up on a few census years - wrong jobs - wrong ages etc.

The remarriage of Mary A Gannon ní Lennon to Henry Cowley is fantastic news (although I'm not gonna break out the party poppers just yet   ). Are we saying that Henry's first wife Margaret also died?

I found out the following deaths after looking between the 1881 census and 1890 marriage of Henry cowley to Mary A Gannon :-
Margaret Cowley b.1844 - died 1889
John Gannon b.1856 - died 1882

Sounds good to me. Not that I'm not sad about them having died  .

I've just had a look at the marriage cert for John Gannon and Mary A Lennon and thought it may help if I gave a little more information.

John Joseph Gannon - Brick Maker
father - Edward Gannon - Sawyer
marriage took place in the Parish Church, Liverpool

Great work again.
Catch you all tomorrow I hope,
Tony

Yes Tony :D

I'd say those deaths were right :D

Scrub Mary being Margaret etc  I knew that Cowley family had something to do with it :D Can't believe I couldn't get my head around it before, bith Mary A, should have realised straight away she had remarried. Looking too hard I suppose

Must do dome work now :?

See you later

What am I finding really frustrating?

Not being able to find Peter. I keep looking at that Quinn and keep wanting to bang my head on a wall lol  Worse thing is, everything is so similar to what we are looking for - Parents approx right age, father Stevedore and a brother Thomas c 1873!!!! Lol it's really bugging me!

Tony

When did mum Mary die, is she in the Ford cemetery too?

I'm confused about dad Thomas now.
I remember trying to find out if Thomas was still alive when Peter married in 1890. I know his marrige cert stated Thomas Lennon, Stevedore. Did it say deceased? I don't think it did, did it? or perhaps it did :?

I looked at the original entry in the registers and it said 'Petrum fillium Relictam Thomas Lennon' Peter son of widow Thomas Lennon :? This suggests that he was alive in 1890, so what's he doing dead in 1883 :?  Did I send you a copy if the parish entry?

Thomas was obviously deceased because you have the death cert, he's in the cemetery, but why would they make out he's alive at Peter's marriage :? Maybe that's just the way they did things, they had to state that Peter's father had been a widow :?:

The plot thickens

Hi

Have we looked at this one from 1861

Name Age
Margret Lennen 14 born 1847, year after marriage
Mary Lennen 36
Thomas Lennen 40 Plasterers Labourer

Could have changed occupations later on maybe :?:

RG9 2688 56 38

It mean son Thomas born when Mary 51/52 but obviously possible?

Or this one listed as Lennox but is definitely Lennon
1851 HO107 2186 414 25
Name Age
Margaret Lennox 5
Mary Lennox 27
Thomas Lennox 37 B Kildare
Julia Ransford 40

Mind you  Do you think those 2 are the same family that I've listed from 1851 and 1861. If they are, it wasn't intentional, honest :?

The more I look, I think they are be the same family.

Just realised though that if marraige 1846 in Liverpool is right, this Margaret was born in Ireland in c1847

Think it may be Simone. I remember before saying I'd seen a Margaret with a Thomas and Mary, when there was some confusion over the Gannan/Cowley thing, but I couldn't find it again. You have :P
It was because I was looking for a Margaret c1856 that could've been Mary  and that Margaret was born c 1847, so when I was 1st looking, I had dismissed that family, because on the 1861, there wasn't a Mary!
That make sense?

Oh boy

Evening all .... it's been a long day ... and a bad day to pack in smoking again so before I get to Tesco to start again......

OK...
Thomas Lennon was deceased at the time of Peter's Marriage. Its on the marriage certificate.

I have a death cert. for a Mary Lennon but I don't think its the correct one.
MARY ANN LENNON
died 13/11/1903 at 32 Orry St.
age 66
widow of Thomas Lennon General Labourer
informant/present at death Thomas Lennon - SON - 57 Tarlock st

This Mary would have been born 1837 making her 10 for a marriage in 1846. I would be looking for a Mary born 1825 (21 in 1846). Thomas' occupation on most certificates is a Stevedore - he would have been licensed for this and is definitely a cut above Labourer - Dock or General. (Don't think I'm getting all middle-class with this comrades - he still had to work his socks off for nothing  ).

Regarding the other family with Margaret - I've seen it many times and have often wondered if Margaret was the reason they left Ireland in the first place (having been born out of wedlock)  . Maybe they got married here and then went back over to Ireland to have her. Unlikely but not impossible.

Catch you later
Thanks

Hi Tony,

To be honest, I've got to the stage where I take ages with a pinch of salt  ( Unless of course they are way out, I don't class 10 years as being too far out ) The informant may not have known the true age of the person he/she was signing about.
My Hubby's GtGtGrandfather knocked 10 years off his age on his 2nd marriage cert!
It took me forever to find the death of my GtGt Grandfather, though that was a transcription error saying 83 instead of 33.

I'm now just going to try and check something for you, won't say what, incase I'm totally wrong again

Hi all

1881 census
Mary Lennon - widow 60
daughter Margret 26

That's the same family as you've mentioned (I would guess).
These can't be them though if Thomas died in 1883.
