Hi all, could I trouble you to see if anyone can find a marriage certificate for William John Orrett marrying a Mary Louisa Williams in Q4 1868. Trying to find out if he is one of mine .
Thanks, John
Unfortunately not, and since it's not listed on LancashireBMD I wonder if it might be a Methodist or something similar. Tried Marriage Licence Bonds And Allegations also with no luck, sorry.

I did try to look at the catalogue for the RO but just entering Welsh or Methodist still brought up a huge amount of entries. I use genuki a lot so have looked there and discovered this page with colour coded map for various denominations. https://www.genuki.org.uk/node/1657/churches/3 So long as you know whereabouts they lived on a census perhaps zooming in could point out a nearby one.

Blimey Bert, what a memory, I had totally forgotten about that and did not link them! You say that Mary Louisa was Welsh, that is quite correct, she was from Bangor, but married in West Derby. Maybe it was a Welsh or Methodist ceremony.

Hi Mary, as Bert said I had asked this question before, but someone on Facebook mentioned them in a Lancashire ancestry group and I did not link them up. William was born in Cheltenham and in 1871 they were living in Pleasant Street, Liverpool, he being a commercial clerk. Pleasant Street is between Mount Pleasant and Brownlow Hill, with lots of Presbyterian and other chapels nearby. Maybe the original poster may be able to shed some light on it. Mary Orrett was a witness at her great grandfather's wedding. Thanks to both of you as ever for the help so far.
The original poster has just said that she thought that they were married at St Mary's church, West Derby, which I think is an Anglican church. William died on 17th March 1886 and Mary went on to marry Max Ehrigott Wittenberg, who were beneficiaries of his estate.
There are only 11 marriages at St Mary's West Derby in the last quarter of 1868 and none of them are for your couple.

Yes that is St Mary's too, but not sure it's online, I've checked subs sites, but you could try familysearch using Blue's links.

Thanks all, I appreciate your efforts. I will park this until I have some definitive proof that I am linked to them. This was more for information on a Facebook Lancs genealogy site posted by a group member. I have had a good look through all of the supplied links and can't see anything.
Best wishes, John
