St Augustine Burials Liverpool
Re: St Augustine Burials Liverpool
These days anybody working for a church might be subject to part-time hours, there's not enough money in the pots to pay full time wages, so keep trying at different times, good luck!

Re: St Augustine Burials Liverpool
Hi Mary
I obtained some further information about contacts at ST Austins, namely email addresses and fired off an email to the office this morning.
I have been on nights so looked at my mail when I got up and I have had a reply.
Basically the contact I was given had been on holiday and had only just returned.
They are busy till Thursday with other matters but have promised to look into the matter for me, hopefully they stated within the next week or so.
With regards to the information, she is not certain if they still have that going back that far.

Fingers crossed that if they don't go back so far, perhaps the earlier records have been given to the Record Office, but don't hold your breath, I think if they were there Katie would have known about them.

Re: St Augustine Burials Liverpool
Hi all,
I am still awaiting further news from the administrator of St Austin's, but as of yet she has not had the time to look through the records for me.
Will up date further when and if there are any developments.

Re: St Augustine Burials Liverpool
Michael Reynolds enq 2012
I first saw the enquiry for Michael when researching St Austin's graveyard last week (2020!) and as I waa unregistered did not see the remaining updates and progress.I registered to show the information I had discovered. Mainly the history project showing the burials for the first hundred years of burials at St Austin's. Michael being listed there as being buried on the same day thar he died. Rather than two days later as per his burial certificate.
The church closed in 2015 and has been sold for redevelopment. The cemetery is owned by the Benedictine Ampleforth Abbey. The cemetery has recent headstones mostly for burial of ashes but burials can still take place there via the parish office of St Francis of Assisi Garston. Fr Joe (Kendall) . He can use the cemetery but has no information as to the people buried there or a grave location map. The map on.the history project linked earlier on the forum is broken.

Re: St Augustine Burials Liverpool
Hi welcome to the forum and thank you for this update. I suspect the Liverpool Record Office may have more information, as time goes on more becomes available online, but obviously not all. We appreciate your insight.

Re: St Augustine Burials Liverpool
Thanks for your welcome MaryA. Is it a legal requirement for every burial plot to be mapped? Public graves excepted. It was noted on the history project of the graveyard that there was a map, not available, and that it was in the process of being digitised. When following the link there was a broken advisory notation. I have recorded the break. Have yet to see a response. I will post if further information arrives. Thanks again.

Re: St Augustine Burials Liverpool
Unfortunately I'm not sure the owner of Liverpoolhistoryprojects is upkeeping the site any longer so not sure whether you will get a response.
Unfortunately I wouldn't imagine there is any sort of requirement to map individual graves, in fact the only cemetery I know with that sort of detailed map is Fazakerley and that can be obtained from Allerton Cemetery Lodge (via Liverpool Council telephone number).
Many other cemeteries/graveyards may have a section map and that is the best that we do, if you come across one for any of the cemeteries we don't already have, please let us know so that we can add a link to it.
