Searching foe a birth record

Post by Stewpot1944 »

Hi
I have an 1841 census record which indicates that a relative was born in Tarbock/Tarbuck around 1779. Does anybody know where a record of this or of his baptism might be held? I have looked at Lancashire Parish records online but Tarbock isn't listed there,
Thank you

A couple of my lot were born Tarbock around the same time, try Huyton Baptisms.

Yes possibly St Pauls Huyton or maybe even as far afield as All Saints Childwall. What is the name?

Many thanks for the pointers. His name was very popular unfortunately - William Smith :)

I have checked Huyton and Childwall and there don't appear to be any baptism records from around 1775 that have been transcribed to the online parish records. Have I looked in the wrong place?

Although it's a little out of the area, West Derby is still possible. There is a William born 29 July 1777, baptised 17 August, son of William & Margaret Smith.

I'm afraid I don't have copies of Childwall for the date in question, they may be available on microfilm at the library.

I went to the Help Desk in Liverpool Central Library on Tuesday and they helped to find the record that seems to be the one I was looking for. In the Register for Huyton there is a record of the birth and baptism dates for William, son of William and Margaret Smith. I am surmising that the church was St Michaels as this is the only one I can find via Google.
Other notable marriages in the church were -
Edmund Hornby married his cousin the Right Honourable Lady Charlotte Stanley on August 22nd 1796
Right Honorable Edward Lord Stanley married Margaret Hornby in June 1798.
So, again, I am surmising that the church didn't just cater for the nobility.

Thank you again to everyone who helped me with this.
