The Registration District of Widnes was not formed until 1964. Prior to that births would have been under Prescot.

Thanks you 2 , I am dim, I knew Widnes was Prescot just forgot
Any sign of a marriage or death. Bearing in mind she was in Blackburn 1901 census and her mum and brother in Everton 1911 census. I can't find her 1911 , but perhaps if I look for Prescot I might find her.

Just to keep you updated on this family.
I have sent for Alice Mitchell's birth certificate (b 1894 Widnes). It should arrive on Friday next. Just wondered why, if she was Esther's child, why she used her mother's maiden name. It would appear that she was sent to Canada in 1905 at the age of 11. No details of this or what happened to her after.

According to the GRO indexes, the Alice Mitchell born Q1 1894 in Prescot had a mmn of Harvey

I didn't check, but thought i was short of money befor. Any way I can't stop it now. Harvey was Esther Ellen's mother's maiden name. In the census she is down as Esther's daughter.

Esther put her name as Mitchell, but as the father's name was also Mitchell, she put formerly Harvey !!
