Good afternoon everyone. I wonder if any of you lovely people know the nearest church to Church View Bootle.

Thank you Bertieone for your reply. I am interested in the period from 1911 through to 1937 although I have a number of relatives who lived in Bootle from 1880 who I cannot find baptisms for on the churches on Ancestry. I have only just come back to researching after taking a years break :D yappie

Unfortunately I don't think many Bootle churches are on Ancestry, some are held by the LRO but others you would need to access at Crosby Library.

Findmypast has some Bootle parish records in its Lancashire records but these are only C of E. St John St Mary St Leonard and St Matthew.

Thank you to you all for your replies. I think I will have to wait for new records to come on line as I live in the South East. Oh to have started this when I was young and used to travel to Liverpool to visit Great Aunts - all gone now :( . I would like to thank JohnnyO for pointing out the Kirkdale burials on Ancestry; I had been searching for a child's burial in Bootle for about 10 years and found she had been buried in Everton :D . I don't know what I would do without this Forum. yappi

There have been a lot of updates on both Ancestry and Findmypast recently but I don't know if they are finished their transcriptions and uploads now. Bootle doesn't seem to be a priority for them like Liverpool is, so your best bet is to give some names and dates etc. and what church you might consider likely and see if we can come up with anything.

Have you also checked out what's available on familysearch? Links posted by Blue have so often proved very useful viewtopic.php?p=123081#p123081

If the records are held at Crosby library then I am more than happy to pop along, it is only 5 minutes away for me. As long as I know what I am looking for :D

This a list of the Bootle Registers that Crosby Library holds. All the RC records are on microfilm as I believe they are copies from Liverpool. St Alexander RC in Bootle was destroyed by bombing and all its registers were destroyed. I would get the addresses of the churches that would have been open in the early 20th century and see which is nearest your family’s address. St James, St Leonard and St Winifrede’s look the best bets.

BOOTLE

St James RC - Baptisms 1845 - 1941, Marriages 1855 - 1933, Burials 1877 - 1891 & Confirmations 1852 - 1964 (Microfilm)

St Joan of Arc RC - Baptisms 1926 - 1940 (Microfilm)

St Leonard's CE - Baptisms 1889 - 1949, Marriages 1890 - 1960 (Microfilm)

St Mary's CE - Baptisms 1827 - 1940, Marriages 1848 - 1962, Burials 1827-1956, Banns 1913 - 30, 50-56 (Microfilm)

St Monica RC - Baptisms 1922 - 1941, Marriages 1924 - 1941 (Microfilm)

St Winifride's RC - Baptisms 1895 - 1946, Marriages 1896 - 1967 (Microfilm)

Thank you so much Hilary and JohnnyO for your help. I don't know the RC churches in the area my Mum and her sister were born Millers Bridge 1916 and 1918 and one born Derby Road 1935. I will try to work out possible churches. yappie

Interesting, my mum went to St Joan of Arc, must see if she is in the baptismal register there. Thanks for the information!
