I visited Liverpool Records Office on Tuesday 11 June 2019 for the day after travelling up from Cardiff the previous weekend. I spent the morning in the Search Room looking at some archives and during the afternoon I spent with the Family History Help Desk Team. It was a pleasure to meet you all and the time spent with me was invaluable. A huge thank you to Mary for making me feel welcome and inviting me to join the team for a meal after the help desk session and before the monthly meeting which was held in the evening. Special thanks to Sylvia who used up her time trying to solve a missing relative and the name confusion between Alice or Sarah Taylor. She also demonstrated the use of the film machines and access to old newspaper records. Susan shared the special meal offer at the Shakespeare and it was lovely to speak to Margaret from the Wirral. I really enjoyed the monthly evening meeting at Library and would hope to attend these again when I visit Liverpool.
It was an exhausting day for me but well worth the effort. I could see that the help team were kept busy all afternoon and you all do a wonderful job.
Regards
Yvonne Davies
PS I sent for the certificate that Sylvia advised me to do and it was the correct family even though the date didn't correspond with my information. I still have a bit of work to do with it but I may contact the forum again if I get stuck on it.

It was really good to meet you Yvonne, hope you come back again next time you visit Liverpool.

We often find that dates remembered by families don't match exactly, so I'm pleased you've now got the right certificate.

I'll pass on your kind comments to some of the others who aren't members of the forum and look forward to seeing you again.
