"New" posts might not be working properly

I like the new look, but find that when I click on "New Posts" a lot of what comes up is threads from previous weeks, with no new posts in them. From other forums I use, "new posts" usually gives me just the threads on which there have been new posts since I last visited, but this forum doesn't seem to be working that way any more.
Have I got a setting wrong? Is this a deliberate forum policy to show stuff from (say) the last few weeks, whether new or not, or does the setup need tweaking?

I find that the circle with lines (look like text lines) beside either the Board or the post (to it's left) is red when it's a new post to me that I haven't viewed. It used to be an orange symbol but that seemed to change with the upgraded software, but it seems to be accurate.

I've looked at the "Quick Links" above (below the globe) and there is a choice there of Your Posts/New Posts/Unread Posts. Have you tried the others to see if they suit your requirements any better?

Yes, I have tried the others, and they don't show genuinely new (to me) posts either.
Also, the little maroon "document" icon next to the "text circle" appears to indicate "unread posts", but when I read the thread and come back to the list, the little "unread posts" symbol hasn't cleared, as similar indicators do on other forums.

It won't change if you just arrow back to the list page, only if you refresh the board, this seems normal and as it always was.
