Liverpool Catholic record updates on Ancestry
Re: Liverpool Catholic record updates on Ancestry
I have not found any new records on baptisms or marriages . They have been there dated 1751 or earlier, just not on the banner headline.
Re: Liverpool Catholic record updates on Ancestry
I do know that Ancestry and Findmypast have been in the library scanning more parish records however, since they would need to be transcribed before uploading I didn't think it would be these extra ones that had been added. Without going church by church, I've counted the numbers and there are no additional ones in their Baptism and Marriage lists.

Re: Liverpool Catholic record updates on Ancestry
It's quite frustrating trying to determine what Ancestry has updated when they indicate an update. I noticed the name of one church had been changed. They originally had a St Mary and a St Mary's. They now have St Mary Highfield Street and St Mary. "St Mary" is St Mary Woolton formerly St Benet's. St Mary Highfield Street is the same church that was originally in Edmund Street and most records date from the Edmund Street location. These updates then may not be new records but include changes to improve access. It may also be a tactic to mask the decrease in new collections and an attempt to draw in customers.
