Further to the successful discovery and recognition of WW2 Sailors graves at Walton Park previously,I was tasked by the Dutch War Graves Organisation (O.G.S) with defining the burial places of a considerable number of Chinese sailors that were in service to the Dutch Maritime fleet during WW2 when they died and are buried at ANFIELD Cemetery in Section 17.
This task has now been completed and new headstones/plaques are being installed on the graves as I write this post
On Monday 27th November the Chinese Community will be meeting to honour these men and include them in the ever expanding history of their contribution to this City.
Spectators and those who would wish to take part are welcome to assemble for the ceremony before 11 a.m on Monday 27th November at Anfield Cemetery, Section 17. (full timetable below)
This date was chosen by the community as a favorable date for such activities according to Chinese wisdom.
The arrangements for the whole days events are :
the ceremony is Monday 27th November.
This is recognised as an auspicious day for burial, digging and repairing headstones within the Chinese calendar.
10:00 Assemble at Chi Kung Tong Bldg (10 Nelson St )
The ceremony will start in the Chi Kung Tong,the building is right next to the Chinese Arch.
A room will be set up with incense and food and people will take part in lighting incense and bowing and other Chinese traditions.
The ceremony will then move on to the cemetery.
