Thanks Bert,

So that 1871 census, which I have seen before - is this all the same family?!

Why would the rest of the family have a different mothers maiden name?

Super confused again!!!!!

?
ENTWISTLE, MARY ALICE mmn PARKER
GRO Reference: 1867 S Quarter in BURY LANCASHIRE Volume 08C Page 426 Occasional Copy: B

The correct family is the one that has the father a Clogger, just happens some of the children's names and birth match the Entwistle/Stretch family.

On the 1871 census, it shows:

Jno Entwistle 35
Mary Entwistle 33
Sarah Entwistle 8
Mary Alice Entwistle 5
Elizth Entwistle 3
Ede Entwistle 1

I have found the following on GRO, all Parker as mother maiden name:

ENTWISTLE, HANNAH
1860 S Quarter in BURY LANCASHIRE Volume 08C Page 368

ENTWISTLE, MARY ALICE
1867 S Quarter in BURY LANCASHIRE Volume 08C Page 426 Occasional Copy: B

ENTWISTLE, ELIZABETH ANN
1867 S Quarter in BOLTON Volume 08C Page 373

ENTWISTLE, EDE
1869 D Quarter in BOLTON Volume 08C Page 339

Can't find a Sarah Entwistle with Parker maiden name yet.....

The Bury family could be a different family, check if there was a Entwistle/Parker marriage in Bury?

They look possible, especially with the occupation being Clogger.

With the name being "Entwisle" on the 1841 census, will this cause me issues going further back?

I have had this on Sarah Longworth's family (John Entwistle's wife) - where her grandmother appears to have 3 variations of her name recorded.

Thank you for your help, I can't believe how super fast you are at finding information!!!

Always allow for transcription errors and also the recorder spelling names as they think it's spelt or how they hear it.

Great, thank you Bert! I will keep an eye for Entwistle, Enwisle and any other formats that look vaguely similar!

You can tell I am new to this - this forum and the IoM forum have been a wealth of information for people starting their journey, to which I am grateful hugely! I've been reading so many books, website links, looking at anything I can to learn - but these forums are truly incredible.

Thank you so much for your time, hugely appreciated :D
