The above couple marriage,

William Hall
Susan Putterill
Swinton St Peter,

Registration, Barton upon Irwell 1886, 8c 877.

The above in 1911 lived in Beresford Place, had a child born Lillian, 1910, another name used for Martha/Robert's children. It seems Martha named her daughters after her sisters?

Lillian Roberts, 1920, Thornton Place, marriage.

Beresford Rd, Rankin St, Thornton Place, are all within spitting distance and crop up regular in the records, Park Rd is also close by.

Does this mean the surname Batmisson is not related to this family and Susan Putterill is Martha’s mother, married to William? All these names are confusing.

Who is Jane Lundberg? A Swedish surname? I can’t see the file very well on my mobile. Is she a lodger?

Jane (Janet) Lundberg was a boarder and her occupation was domestic servant, haven't checked but I think unrelated.

I think Mary posted the Batmission as a possible for a Martha Hall birth.

Until I can prove myself wrong and I will if need be, I believe Susan Hall, nee, Putterill is Martha's mother and that Martha went on to marry Robert Roberts.

The Robert and Martha you seek.

Have you got Ancestry?

An opinion on what happened,

Susan Putterill gave birth to Martha before marriage, Martha Putterill was registered during the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter 1886, if Martha was born 25 Aug, 1886, a December Quarter registration was still permissible. If she registered Martha on her own, no husband or child's father with her, the child would have to be registered, Putterill.
Soon after, the marriage, Martha then used the name, Hall.

Thanks again, you’ve been very kind to help me. I have been stuck behind this wall for a while now.

I do have ancestry but no subscription as of yet and will probably sign up in a month or two as I’m currently moving. I’ve looked around when they’ve had free days, but I was struggling to find who I was looking for anyway, so it wasn’t much use.

Oh, wow. Beyond grateful.

Is the ‘Wm Geo Hy’ just an abbreviation of names? William George Henry?
