Looking for Martha HALL and Robert ROBERTS

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a lady called Martha Hall. For some reason, I cannot find her at all. Her name later changes though I have no evidence of a marriage certificate which may indicate she never married but took her partner’s surname anyway.

Unfortunately, my information regarding Robert is much more sparse. I’m not sure of his date of birth, or place of birth.

I understand it’s a long shot, but if anyone has any information, I’d be really grateful as I can’t get past this brick wall.

Hi,
I have been told this is an approximate birth, which of course could be incorrect. My issue with the earlier births is that I know for a fact their last child was born in 1924/5 which would make them around 40-50 years old. I’m not sure if that seems a bit too ‘off’ with the dates or if it makes them too old.

If Martha was born about 1884/5, she would only be 40 when Louisa was born in 1924, no problem with that.

There were 3 children born with a mothers maiden name of Hall before Tommy?, John1919, Lillian1920, Louisa1924,

Those 3 could give the continuation of births in the marriage?

I can't open the 1939 register, there's a Robert Roberts 1877 and Martha Roberts, 1886 and 2 closed records in the same household, Liverpool.

Batmisson.. does anyone know what nationality this surname is? I’ve never seen it before and need to check it out. Edit: Seems like it may be Swedish in origin(?).

The 1939 register only records the occupants living at that time at a property, not all family members.
If any of the children had married, moved out or are in the Services, they will be recorded elsewhere.

If a church wedding,
Addresses on marriage certs can be misleading, for the reading of Banns and to avoid Banns being read in 2 parish's, one of the couple would use the address of a friend or relative so it would appear both where from the same parish.

We also know families moved around a lot, especially if in rented accommodation.
