Samuel Edmund Newby Walters

My great-grandfather William Nassau Walters died in 1937,in Holywell, Flintshire. His place of death was a big surprise ( I was expecting it to be Portsmouth). Given William's unique name though, it must be him.

The informant on his death certificate was one Samuel Edmund Newby Walters, son, of 53 Banner St, Liverpool. He is a complete mystery to me.

In the 1939 register, Samuel was still at number 53, married, living with Eva Walters, married, and one redacted member of the household. He was a grocer's branch manager. Samuel was born 2 Sep 1890, and Eva 26 Oct 1901.

I cannot find a birth, marriage, death or census entry for either Samuel or Eva. (I've also looked at 'Evangeline' and 'Evelyn'). Given the date of his birth, it will have been illegitimate, so I'm guessing that his third name 'Newby' might well be a clue as to his mother.

Could some kind soul please look him up in any street directory, electoral roll or similar around the 1930s please? I need to find anything about Samuel and Eva that might lead to me finding him.

Great info, many thanks. I was tearing my hair out... I should have thought of a surname change. His great-grandfather was born Waters, but all descendants called themselves Walters. So now I have a third surname spelling...
