Are there any links for the chapel at Kirkby St Chads?

Post by lynne99 »

Title says it all really. I am looking for a marriage in 1771 between Thomas Howard and Winifred Prescot (looking for their parents) Perhaps Winifred was baptised there c 1748.
Thanks Blue.

There doesn't appear to be any images available on Family Search for St Chad's. There are transcripts on Lancs OPC. No marriage there for them in 1771. Baptism transcripts available:-

Baptism: 6 Jan 1742/3 Parochial Chapel of Kirkby, Walton, Lancashire, England
Winefrid Prescot - Daughter of James Prescot
Register: Baptisms 1727 - 1775, Page 14, Entry 15

Baptism: 30 Oct 1748 Parochial Chapel of Kirkby, Walton, Lancashire, England
Winefrid Prescot - Daughter of Thomas Prescot
Register: Baptisms 1727 - 1775, Page 20, Entry 15

Accord to this record the marriage was at Walton. There don't appear to be transcripts or images for St Mary, Walton online for this date:-

It doesn't actually say "St Marys" Walton on the Hill, WotH could simply be the parish at that date, which would likely cover Kirkby anyway.

There won't be any more parental detail on a marriage at that date, although it could possibly state the information "of this parish" or perhaps an occupation for the groom.

I'll put it on my list for next week and see if there's anything I can find.

Was it Lynne who asked for the marriage of Winifred Prescot?

Post by MaryA »

The marriage of Thomas Howard and Winifred Prescot in 1771 Walton on the Hill, was indeed St Mary's Walton on the Hill, but I can't find which post it was requested on. Here is the entry.
