We have 2 Joseph Bonney's both born c 1864 St. Helens Lancs.
First Joseph parents Hugh Bonney & Ann Wilcock we can trace through the Census marriage and death in 1925 this Joseph is buried in St. Helens Cemetery.
Second Joseph more problematic born 1864 St. Helens parents Thomas Bonney & Dorothy Ireland no problem with early census, this Joseph marries 1897 Lowe House St.Helens. to Elizabeth H Challinor.
The first child known as Nellie born 1898 in St.Helens.
In 1901 Joseph is with his parents on the Census night Piece 3520 Folio 141 St.Helens.
Elizabeth his wife in 1901 is with her parents and daughter Nellie (George Challinor & Fanny) in Middlewich Piece 3345 Folio 90.
Second child born 1906 James Bonney in Middlewich.
1909 Elizabeth dies in Middlewich.
1911 cant find Joseph anywhere, or a death for him.
1911 Census the 2 children are with their G.Parents in Middlewich
What happened to Joseph after 1906 ??
Any help gratefully appreciated.
Thanks Margie

Re: Joseph Bonney's
Just to say that if we don't have an answer it doesn't mean that we aren't looking, so far I haven't discovered an answer but am still looking.
Because his wife has another child in 1906 I wouldn't take it for granted that Joseph was still alive up to that date - the mother could easily have registered the baby in her married name - as if all was legitimate, even though it might not be his.

Re: Joseph Bonney's
Thanks Mary A.
Last night a friend sent me the Baptism Record for James which she found on family search:
Jacobus Bonney
Baptism 17.12.1905
St Mary Middlewich Cheshire
Fathers Name Josephi Bonney
Mother Elisabeth Annae Challoner.
Taken from England, Cheshire Non-Conformist Record
Does this prove that Joseph is the Father or not, ??

Re: Joseph Bonney's
Not necessarily, the father wouldn't have needed to be at the baptism for the mother to provide the information.margie wrote: Does this prove that Joseph is the Father or not, ??

Re: Joseph Bonney's
Mary A,
Not sure where to go from here as this Joseph seems to have vanished into thin air.
