bert,
Can you tell me how you found that his mothers maiden name was spenser.
I have not been able to locate this information.

thank you for the above details of her first marriage, and yes it does explain girl margaret teal/tail listed with them on the 1841 census. I did expect that perhaps she may have been spenser, but despite my searching could not locate the marriage. The fact that she had been previously married had not occurred to me. so she would have remarried under the name teal /tail.

Hi Sharene,

Recently the GRO, http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certi ... efault.asp put some added information on the site, from 1837-1916 which included the mothers maiden names for registered births, which helps but you would still have to purchase the birth certificate for more details.
On this occasion we were lucky he had a good forename for searching.

GRO, you will have to register, log in, submit and search the GRO indexes.

Thanks bert,

i am registered for the gro and have searched there several times for this family to no avail. I guess new records are being added all the time, and suddenly they appear. Pays for me to check back there more often.

Hi
I am very interested in your Elizabeth Boyle. My husband's great grandmother was Margaret Boyle and I believe she also lived at 53 Denbigh street in bootle.

hi mary and bertie,

I have not had the chance to get back to the forum for a bit, work has been pretty hectic. But just when I was thinking that I should get back to you all, I received a very welcome message regarding another member of the family.
I have gotten in touch with Sandra, perhaps we can nut out what happened to william and elizabeth and remainder of the family.
Thank you for your help and will continue to support the great work that you do.

Hi
I have heard from sharene and hope we can share what information we have. Thought I would post on here the marriage certificate information I have for my Margaret Boyle. Marriage solemnized at the register office in west derby Liverpool. On July 26 1915 between Dan Turney and Margaret Boyle. He was a private in the 5th kings Liverpool regiment. She had no occupation. Both lived at 53 Denbigh street bootle. His father was George Turney. Deceased. Her father was Owen Boyle deceased. Her father's occupation was blacksmith. The witnesses were John Henry white and Ann Jane white.
I traced this record from the birth record of my husband's grandmother and then in searching found their immigration record to Canada and the USA. The immigration record stated that Margaret was born in louth Ireland.

Elizabeth Hampson (nee Boyle)
After much searching to no avail for her birth in england, wales and ireland, I finally found a reference to her birth.
the 1939 household register has her listed, giving her date of birth as 16 september 1894.
Further searches have not revealed anything further.
Appreciate any information on her at all.

Not easy. This looks the best hope... County Louth, Owen, a Railway Labourer, could be a Blacksmith. You've got an Elizabeth and a Margaret about the right age.

Birth of Maggie Boyle?:

[EDIT: Probably the wrong family; this could be the MB above getting married in the US

I assume Peter Boyle was their brother. When Margaret emigrated to the USA her husband lists Peter Boyle as his brother in law and next of kin. He also lists his address as 53 Denbigh street.

I also do believe that Margaret did marry Albert mauthe in the USA. Although in that record she claims she has never been married. In the marriage record for Margaret's daughter she lists Margaret mauthe as a witness to the marriage and being under age I assume her mother witnessed the ceremony.

If that is right, then the familysearch marriage record confirms that Margaret's mother was Mary Duffy. The 1895 birth record - as above - is likely correct:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/ ... 836968.pdf

However, the record above for Elizabeth is NOT correct; here's a far more likely candidate from 1891 with the mother clearly 'Mary Duffy':
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/ ... 895404.pdf

That doesn't tie up with the '1894' entry on the 1939 Register, though :?:
