Blue - thanks for your note with the links which I have worked through. Mr S would be getting near to 30 so it is quite possible he is the man. I do not know what were the duties of the master but it may be that he is not like a head master but master as opposed to apprentice or whatever.. As I look at the actual cert I cannot read any other title into it.
regarding 26 weeks, the original could be read as 26 but I do not think the subsequent word is week. I will keep thinking.
