Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
He was a hatter and from Anc. was buried in Walton on the Hill. Is this going to be St Mary's church yard ?? And how do I find out if there was a memorial ??
Thanks Lynne
Thanks Lynne

Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
Thanks Mary. I don't have any details of Edmunds parent or siblings. They may be a relative but I don't know. Can't find his baptism. c 1776. Because he died 1830 I don't have any census info.
Where did you get the info from amd does this mean he wasn't buried there or is it just a public grave.
I am confused.
Thanks again Lynne

That is the details of those buried in a grave in St Mary's Walton on the Hill. This information is available from a record of burials in the Liverpool Archives.

Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
Thanks Mary. Would it have a list of people buried in public graves?
Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
I think you would need to check the burial register to find that out, hopefully on microfilm at the RO.

Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
Thanks Mary. If any one is going to RO and had a few minutes to spare could they look at St Mary's Walton on the Hill, burials 19 December 1830. Thanks in anticipation.

Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
You have given two different years of burials - 1830 or 1840?
I have found the database you got the information from and it would appear to be 1830.
If you check this page it is possible that the Burial Register may have come from another parish rather than St Mary's, in fact there is quite a list of possibles.
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss ... aps&h=4981
To be sure you would need to scroll back through the Register to discover the first page and which church is given on it. Don't just go back to Page 1 as that is a register for St Nicholas, beginning in 1830.

Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
This burial appears to be on Family Search:-
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JDMW-GY3
It looks to me like it is St Mary's CE Walton and given the poor state of the churchyard, mostly due to WW2 bomb damage, it's unlikely more information will be obtained about this burial.

Generally Church of England burial registers give the following information
Date of burial
Name
Age
Abode
Buried by
No grave details are given
There would have been a graves register which would have given details on an actual grave. Not many of these appear to have found their way into record offices and not many churches appear to still have them. Where they do exist they are likely to be at the church. They are more likely where the churchyard is still open for burials.

Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
Just decided to look again at this descendant. I have got his will written Feb 1829. this is definitely his as his wife is Alice and his only child is Esther Ellen. The probate was granted in May 1829 in Liverpool, to Alice his wife and the other executor.
As you can see from the previous messages , there is a burial in Walton, but that says Dec 1830!!. I cannot find any other death or burial. His wife Alice died just after the 1841 census in Oct 1841 in Dingle, she had not remarried.
I also think that Edmund's parents were William Bradshaw and Margaret Sephton. The reason I think this is that one of Edmunds Children was called Henry Sephton Bradshaw b 1801, mother was Mary, Edmund's first marriage. All the children from this first marriage were baptised catholic , as were the children of William and Margaret. (God parents John and Easter (Esther?) Sephton.
An other pair of eyes (or 3) would be very helpful, thanks.

The burial on 19 December 1830 looks like age 34 years, so I'm not so sure he's yours.lynne99 wrote:I don't have any details of Edmunds parent or siblings. They may be a relative but I don't know. Can't find his baptism. c 1776. Because he died 1830

Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
Thanks Mary. I agree , because probate was granted in May 1929 and it is very unusual
to wait over 1 year to bury him. Still searching. Do any of the cemetery images on Family search cover ones that aren't on anc??

Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
I don't know, the full set should of course be held at the RO, otherwise it would be checking via the extremely useful list Blue has collated. https://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/ ... 14&t=15479

Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
I've looked at St James' Cemetery but unfortunately the records on Family Search start after his supposed burial, same year though 1829. There were various churchyards used at this time he might have been buried at one whose records are not online. Ancestry, Lancs OPC and Family Search together cover a lot of local burials for around that time.

Thanks Blue. Lots of virtual hugs for you. I think you found it . Where did you find it? Was it on the new family search images. Again Thanks.
PS I can't find his baptism either. I have one 1770 at St Nicholas, but that would make him 60. I suppose if he could not remember when he was born, 74 might be a good guess. But the burial must be him. Between his will being written and probate. Thanks again.

The St Mary Walton on the Hill burial records are on Ancestry with the Lancashire records they are Bishop's Transcripts.

I go search thanks again,
Re: Edmund Bradshaw died 1840 aged 54
Blue, I can't find them. The Bishops transcripts I have found only go from 1830.. Please can you send me a link.
I cannot find
HELP them. I have Lancs Bishop transcripts, 1820 to 1829, but they are for St Georges, Everton and St Michael Toxteth in the parish of St Mary's Walton.
