I think the niece Sarah, may be Samuel's child. There is one born 1826 in Linthwaite, Almondbury, Yorkshire. The father is Samuel and mother Sarah Liversedge, so it looks like they were not married.
Thanks Lynne

Might be an idea to check the local Record Office, especially if they have an online catalogue, to see if there was an Affiliation Order?

No not my Samuel's child . There was a Samuel Varley baptised in Almondbury in 1774. So more likely it was him. I'll have to keep looking.

I didn't see her either, is there a suitable death registration for her?

Somewhere , yesterday, I found an Elizabeth or Betty Varley that died in Liverpool but was buried in Yorkshire. Like an idiot, I did not write where I found it, so today it does not exist. It was in 1843 and for info, I only have anc. and a free 3 months on the genealogist. (That might help someone)

I really am being dense this afternoon. She wasn't in the 1841 census as she pre deceased that event. The last page in the will says the testatrix died 11 day of January 1839

I also found the will of Ralph Richardson who died only 1 year before her. He must have been a relative of Jane, her mother whose surname was Richardson.

Perhaps I will do better next week.

Free BMD have a death for Elizabeth Varley in Askrigg, Yorkshire, 1st quarter 1839, 24 201. I will look for a burial now.
PS Askrigg includes West Burton.

No can't find her burial :( Nor that of her brother Samuel who died in the following quarter (June 1839)

Sarah Varley is the daughter of Ann Varley

In Elihu's will it states unto Sarah Varley the natural daughter of my sister Ann Varley

Sarah's married Joseph Sedgwick according to the probate of the will and was living in Middlesborough.

Hillary, you are on the ball. If I could read that difficult writing I would have known that. Thanks again.
