Hi,
I am helping a friend with her research and have come up against a bit of a puzzle, especially as we are looking at fairly current data.
My friend's Great Aunt, Mary Stephens was born in 1894 and married a John Liversey in the June qtr of 1915 .They the following children: John (1915) Johanna(1918),Mary E (1920) George (1922)Margaret (1925) Joseph (1925) Alice((1931) and Charles(1932).
Using Freebmd I have found a possible 1939 Birmingham marriage for John and that both Johanna and George died prematurely in their first year. I also know that Mary married George Payne in 1945 and Margaret married Henry Carr in 1949.
I think Mary may had two daughters, Doris and Vivienne. I can't find any children for Margaret.
I realise I might be stepping over the mark as the information is, as I said, fairly recent and that some of the Liversey children could still be alive. What is puzzling is that whilst I have a 1947 death for Vivienne aged 0, I can't find a matching birth!!
Any help and advice would be welcome.
Regards
Frank

If you look on Ancestry at their transcrioibe births 1916 - 2005 and ask it to search for Payne with mother's maiden name Liversey you will find 2 births neither are the names you give.
If you then search for a child by the name you have given in the births 1947 you will find the only child born in Liverpool with that name does not have a mother with the maiden name Liversey.
If you follow the same system for Carr with a maiden name Liversey you will find a child.
If you do not have a subsription to Ancestry you can look at it in your local library.
I have not used any names so as not to cause distress to the living but hope you can follow the above. I suggest you amend your post removing the names of those who are likely to be alive.

PS freebmd is not yet complete post around 1920 which is why you need to look at the full GRO index

Re: Can't find matching birth
Hello Frank,
Having only just started to research my Father's family, I was surprised to see his name within your post on this website - from 2010 I think.
Mary Elizabeth Stephens was my Grandmother and John Liversey my Grandfather. The following details are known to me:-
John Liversey (son) married auntie Cis (presume Cicily but no surname known??) and, as far as I remember, they had 4 children.....my aunt, uncle and cousins.
Mary Liversey married George Payne and there were 3 children .....my aunt, uncle and cousins.
Margaret Liversey married Michael Carr and there was one child....aunt, uncle 'Mick' and cousin.
Joseph Liversey married Florence Cottom and there were four children, my mum, my dad and siblings.
Alice Liversey married John Leatherbarrow and I think there were two children....again, aunt, uncle and cousins to me.
The other children you mention, Joanna, George and Charles, are not known to me.
I remember Gran and Pop as being jolly, short and round and can visually still see the house they lived in on Brow Side, Liverpool 6.
Over the years, we all moved around - my family to the Wirral then South Wales. My parents are both deceased and I am their eldest child so there will be no more memories to discover - from my side of the family at least!
Hope this is some use to you and your friend.
Regards,
Sue S
