Nursing register

Hi folks

Just discovered my great aunt on newly updated Nursing Records in Ancestry.

She was based at Walton Hospital.

How would I apply for her nursing records, and anyone any idea what they would contain.

In 1950 she was a Health Visitor, the record I found was 1928 I presume when she qualified !!!

Anyone applied for nursing history ????

You are lucky, dad was in Fazakerley but I can't find him listed.

Applying for those records is something I haven't thought of so don't know, but perhaps the Royal College of Nursing might be able to advise https://www.rcn.org.uk/library/services/family-history

Found another this morning for 1948.

Wondered when it would show her address before qualifying, school, parents............all the things which would answer the ????? and knock down that final wall.

Quick update.

No further details held on my Auntie Norah with the RCN

However they did say try hospital records..............do the Library hold any records on Walton Hospital going back to 1925.

I also have an address for 1925 now so going great guns !!

Google Hospital Records database, that then leads you to the right page at the National Archives. You then put in the name of the hospital and up pops what is held. There appears to be a lot held for Walton Hospital and it states the records are held at Merseyside Record Office presumably now at Liverpool Record Office. I imagine there will be a 100 year closure on the records. Their staff records appear to be much later than you want.

Enquire at the Record Office but do make sure you mention the Merseyside Record Office Archives as these may be listed under a separate search catalogue.
