Thanks Ann,
Im still digging, and Believe that Thomas Hughes (11Nov 1804) as i now know him , was the son of a Hanna Hughes, She had him when she was 18, and he was illegitimate ... BUT I can not find any Marriage for a Hanna to a Whitehead... My thinking was she had Thomas, and then Married a Whitehead , so when he had his children He gave the Step farther name as their middle name .. I have niggling thought in my mind that i saw an Edmund whitehead, from the Liverpool " area" , mentioned in one of the many searches that i did , at the time i discounted him , as i was thinking t literally - Thats a Newbie for you ..

- But I'm learning ..
From what you have just suggested , Maybe i should be looking for a Miss Whitehead who married a Mr Hughes .. and had a son Thomas Hughes - that way he passed on his Mother Maiden name to the Family as Middle names ...
What strikes me as strange , is on the birth certificate for William Whitehead Hughes , he is definitely named as farther "Thomas Whitehead Hughes" , However in the 1841 Census He and his wife Elizabeth are using the name Whitehead, and have dropped the Hughes .. and there after he always uses the name Thomas Whitehead, but on one later document , he is Thomas Hughes Whitehead.. If have confirmed is definitely him, as he had his too youngest daughters living with him at the time, and their professions and ages are all inline ..
Why would you drop your surname form Birth , and used at your married and pick up what was a middle name as the surname ... Or am i thinking about this all wrong .. (Maybe i should stop thinking , I'm confusing myself now
Anyway , I'm going to keep going through the records , leave Elizabeth's death date for now and try and find the parents of Thomas Whitehead hughes ...
Thanks for all the advice and comments , its really appreciated, and I'm Learning Loads form you replies- THANK YOU ALL ..
regards
DAVE
