Who would that be, then.

Bert, at least we managed to access a few. On one of them, my great uncle's birth year was later amended to three years later (it was correct to begin with), which is odd.

Worth a £1, I would have only squandered it.

A bit of advice please before I splash out for some credits to see 1939 register.

When it says a person is officially closed in the household, does that mean you don't even see a name for them or is it just all their personal information is withheld?
Don't want to waste any precious credits here

Is this still the case, does anyone know? :?

Didn't try it myself, but I believe it was available at the library on Tuesday.

Some notations have been spotted written in afterwards. Does anybody have any idea what some of these mean?

Could they be pathology notes? Sounds a bit grim.

Looks like NVF is code for the area 'Huyton with Roby'.

Yes the 1939 Register is still available for free via FMP at Liverpool libraries. From the home page go into Archives & Family History then click on Find My Past.

Slightly different but similar in William Brown Street, scroll down to "In Library Resources" at the bottom right, clicking on this gives you the entry for Ancestry and Findmypast.

Thanks Luxor, that is a direct query from our webmistress and nothing usually confounds her, I'll pass it on to her.

I know you originally posted this a while ago Blue, but I've just found a great website that will do the hard work for you! This is probably more for anyone without an FMP subscription

http://kiwitrees.net/1939-register-finding-birth-dates/

They also provide a household search facility as well, which can be useful but the results do vary and require a bit more work to see who is actually in the same household as who you are searching for http://kiwitrees.net/1939-register-hous ... st-finder/

This looks really useful, Steve. I keep timing out on the page - I will try again when I have more time.

ETA, I have a result.

Blue - glad to hear that it worked. I've tried it on a number of relatives whose dob I already knew and it worked every time!!
