Gaytor Family - Atherton

I would like to contact anyone who knows of any current members of the Gaytor family of Atherton. Tom and Alice Gaytor lived in Allenby Street, Atherton. Tom died in 1971 and Alice in about 1963. Their daughter was June Gaytor who married Peter Devlin. June went to Leigh Girls' Grammar School. She died 1998.

I was a friend of June's and she left some items to me when she died. They include photographs and a family bible. I would like to give these items to a member of the Gaytor family who I think would appreciate them more than I do. Unfortunately, I do not know of anyone. If anyone could help I would be very grateful.

The details you have posted have been relayed to some people in the Leigh area and I hope you don't mind but it will also be put on the Leigh Group of our Society Facebook. I know many people don't use Facebook but I have had considerable success in contacting living relatives and recommend it.

First response back from one member on the Facebook Group

"The records show the name as Gayter. June Loraine Gayter was born 1938, married Peter Devlin in Leigh 1959 and then died at Trafford in 1998. There are no records of any children born between them. Thomas Gayter had married Alice Henthorn in Leigh 1934. There are no records for the birth of June or any other Gayter / Henthorn children thus June may have been adopted. This search would need to look at siblings of Thomas gayter and Alice Henthorn. Looks like Thomas may have been an only child born 1904 Leigh."

Another member has suggested that they will post on the Old Leigh Photographs Group as there are more members, I've asked for any replies to be relayed back to us so that we can post them here.
