Church in Toxteth Park or Liverpool
Re: Church in Toxteth Park or Liverpool
Haven't come across Mary Cave's marriage yet, his full name was William Hiram Levins, 1868-1951, Ontario. A couple of addresses from Mary Levins returns to Liverpool during the 50s.
40 Chesterton St, Garston, home of her Father, William Talbot.
36 Linner Rd, Speke.
Look forward to the marriage cert and if you do upgrade, you won't be disappointed.

Re: Church in Toxteth Park or Liverpool
Thank you again and again everybody, I am truly overwhelmed with you all and the amazing story that is unfolding.
I now have to confess that due to my 'age problem' the following happened:- about 27 Jan. I had composed a message with some important information on Isabella and Charles (Jnr.) - I assumed I had pressed the submit button but I had not. Consequently, this morning when I was looking through all the messages I discovered that I had not sent it!
so the message was more or less:- I have a letter that Isabella sent to her brother in Liverpool, in it she talks of Charlie who is working in the fields and that the farm is 360 acres, no more relevant information except for the address which is Box163 Carbon, Alberta, Canada and the date was July 1952.
Isabella Edwards b. 1901 Toxteth Park, 1933 married John McGivney, John died in WW2 1942 and she then married again 1945 to Charles Cave b.1904
I'm sorry that I forgot to submit, it would have helped a lot at the time, I'm ashamed about this but I really cannot help it.

Re: Church in Toxteth Park or Liverpool
Thank you Katie, for another piece in the puzzle. But "son" of Mrs Cave? must be a misprint.
Re: Church in Toxteth Park or Liverpool
For him to be in my database I must have come across a report or something in a paper for me to put that address for him. On his CWGC entry no additional information is recorded.

Re: Church in Toxteth Park or Liverpool
As you can all see the church was St Michael in the Hamlet Toxteth Park. But most important of all this is confirmation that my Isabella did marry Charles Cave because Isabella's father was Emmanel Edwards a mariner killed in WW2.
Yesterday, I upgraded to Worldwide Ancestry and it is truly amazing but will take me a while to get through all that!
I must add a special thanks also to Luxor who has been so very forthcoming with extra information by private message, it is so nice how kind people have been to me on this board. I thank you all!

More than once I have told Lancs OPC that the Hamlet is in Toxteth, historically speaking, not Aigburth. Nothing has happened! To me, as a local, Aigburth's northern end is at Aigburth Vale.

I can't find any photos of St Michael's in the Hamlet with that distinctive pattern on the outside of the church.

Re: Church in Toxteth Park or Liverpool
Just an update: I have written to the vicar at St Michael in the Hamlet and sent him the wedding photo pic., hopefully he might be able to bring some light on the matter. As you say BLU70 it certainly does not look like St Michaels exterior.
Will update you all soon.

Re: Church in Toxteth Park or Liverpool
This might sound daft but are you a 100% certain that the wedding photo is Charles and Isabella in 1945?
The reason I ask is that this sort of vertical crazy paving doesn't seem to be a feature of any of the churches in Liverpool that I can find in David Lewis' book the Churches of Liverpool.

Re: Church in Toxteth Park or Liverpool
I would like to bring you all up to date with what I have found out now. Earlier today I had an idea to contact the town in Carbon Alberta, where Charles Cave passed the rest of his life together with his wife Isabella. So I joined a group on Facebook called:- Village in the Valley, Carbon, Alberta. I posted a very short summary of what I wanted to know, and within an hour I had received 3 replies
Here is some of them:
Sorry everyone, but I think I am asking for the moon. But I will put it out there anyway. My ancestor Isabella Cave (nee Edwards) married Charles Cave and they emigrated to Carbon, Alberta probably in 1945. They were originally from Liverpool England. Charlie had already been to Canada previously with his mother (Mary) who remarried a chap called W H Levins (Farmer). I'm just trying to find out more info. on Charlie and Isabella (Belle
Judy Quintin-Arvidson
https://www.facebook.com/judyq1?fref=ufiI knew Charlie Cave. He loved to sing in Church and was always there with his wife every Sunday.
Oh! That is amazing news. I am going to send a picture of what I believe is their wedding in Liverpool 1945. Would you be so kind as to tell me if it is them. It is the only photo I have. I also have a letter from Isabella (Belle) in July 1952 in which she describes Charlie as a farmer with 360 acres farm. Address was Box 163 Carbon Alberta
Judy Quintin-Arvidson:- yep that is definitely Charlie..I could never forget that nose..LOL A VERY nice man and his wife. Yes that man on the right from the side has the same nose but Charlie would have been the age of the man getting married. If you look at him closely, you will notice his nose is prominent too..
I was born in 1952 - my mother lived in Carbon all her life and her parents were friends with Charlie Cave. He went to our Church and I think he may have helped my grandfather to build it. They tore it down a few years ago - I still live in the manse.
Ann Passeri:-This is amazing news, I never dreamt I would find out anything when I posted here. So Carbon must be quite a small town then. Do you happen to know if they had any children? I have not been able to find any?
Judy Quintin-Arvidson:-no they had no children Carbon is about 540 people now and would have been a few less probably then. There are still a few of the original families around.
Amanda Dixon:-We have a carbon history book / sharples , one as well ! My aunt helped with both books she's very knowledgeable with the family's in carbon / history . I'll call her see if I can pass on her number to you
Tara Lee Geddes:- W. Levins would have been my Great Grampas brother...Yes that was my grampas uncle
So the main result from all this is that the Wedding photo is definitely the right one, but If it is not St Michaels Church then maybe the photo was taken after the ceremony somewhere else. I cannot think of anything else. I would like to thank everyone that helped me on here, your FH Board is truly amazing, with some very dedicated members. I'm sure I will be back in the future begging for some more help! Ann
