GIBB, WOOSEY, ECCLESTON

Post by Ann Krasny »

Hi, I am from Australia and am searching for any information on the following families GIBB, WOOSEY and ECCLESTON. My Gx4 Grandparents were James GIBB and Eliza ECCLESTON who married in St Nicholas Church in 1805. They had 3 sons John Jnr (Gx3 Grandfather), Thomas and James. John married Mary WOOSEY in 1828 and had 5 children, 3 of whom came to Australia in the 1850's. I have been told immigration papers have a contact name of Thomas Eccleston GIBB, Liverpool Mercury. Any help or suggestions on any of the above named would be greatly appreciated. Ta! Am visiting Liverpool later this year and would like to have as much info as possible. Kind regards, Ann Krasny

Thanks Bert, much appreciated. This throws up more questions. I have sent an enquiry to Liverpool Library in regards to Thomas Eccleston GIBB also. I wouldn't think many people would have the same name, and parents with both surnames, but then nothing surprises me with family history research. I'm thinking of ordering his death certificate to see if it sheds some light. Regards, Ann

I would think the newspaper article is correct, I wonder if the connection between Thomas Eccleston Gibb and the Liverpool Mercury was a Post Box, did the Mercury offer such a service?

Ann, Whose immigration papers was he mentioned on?
