Bert
Forgot to say Hannah Dodd was Charlottes mother - but I assume you had worked that out.
I have been clutching at straws for years I seem to go one step forward and then 3 back.
Charlotte died in 1924 - I have details of all her children but still cannot find/prove when James was born.
I have also traced, as far as I can, the so called bros and sisters from the census records just in case they prove to be the said bros and sisters.
James Jenkins C1880
Re: James Jenkins C1880
Hi Mary
I did give a lot of thought to the family being enumerated twice but then Bert came up with queries about the two records with regard to the occupation of James, so if they had filled in two forms you would have thought they would have said the same – unless they had done a moonlight flit, joking of course.

Re: James Jenkins C1880
Joking aside, moonlight flits were not uncommon! Often escaping the rent man or talleyman. The occupation isn't dissimilar, Quay Carter and Carter, the only difference might be where they were working at any particular day. Keep an open mind.

Re: James Jenkins C1880
I don't care what he was doing (warts and all as we say) if only I can find the correct family.
Re: James Jenkins C1880
I have looked through some of my books and I have the contact details for a Tony Jenkins who came for help on the same family. I also could not find the marriage of a Jenkins to a Carroll. I have sent Tony a email with a link to this topic. I will pm his contact details to you.

Re: James Jenkins C1880
When I helped Tony, I came to the opinion that the Jenkins family in Ashfield Street and also those in Jersey Street were one and the same. I always keep an open mind as I have learned that mistakes were made when recording details. I have recently helped a lady who was looking for a marriage of a Joseph Smith to a Annie McCluskey. The only marriage I could find was for a Joseph Smith, son of Joseph Smith to a Annie Teresa Smith daughter of Henry Smith. Everything on the marriage matched were the family resided apart from her name. This lady had spent quite a few bob following a line of McCluskey and also Smiths which were not connected. It turns out that Annie McCluskey was actually born Annie Teresa Smith and baptised at St. Peters R/C 1878 and she was the daughter of Catherine and Henry Smith, no maiden name was recorded but I suspect Catherine's maiden name is McCluskey. Joseph Smith was also illegitimate. So what is recorded may not always be what it seems. Liverpool Workhouse records helped to solve this brick wall.
