Hi Lynne....Horton is a village near Ribchester and is some 12 miles from Preston ...FMP .com do have this entry ....although I have seen it on the LDs also.

Take a look at Horton although in Lancashire on Wikipedia there's a great description about the Ribble Valley n Ribchester and how close it is to Yorkshire.As you most probably know the county boundaries were so different in those days. Hope this turns out to be your Ellen.
