Holland Family Garston

Post by 68pages »

Hi

I am trying to find the shop owned by George Holland in Garston, Lancashire - this is all the information I have:

George Holland born 1844 in Holywell , Flintshire and he died 28 Dec 1909 at 8, Island road, Garston. married Mary Walker (nee Longshaw ) in 1873.

Thanks for your time - really appreciate any help!

Is he the George a Holland a grocer at 2 Holland Street Birkenhead in the 1881 census and at the same address in 1891? On both census he says born Greenfield Flintshire.

He married Mary Longshaw in 1872 at St Anne Birkenhead. Do you have the marriage certificate? Also where is he in the 1901 census?

In 1901 George is still at 2 Cardigan address in Birkenhead as a grocer. That would seem to have been his shop. He's a widower in 1901.

If I was you I would be trying to find out who else was living at the Garston address in 1909.

Not much help, Gore's/Kelly's Directory 1911 probably lodged in 1910 has at 8 Ireland Rd a Frederick Ireland clerk.

Thank you everyone I will try and get details of his marriage. I have also been in contact with a family member who says there was a shop in Window Street Garston that was owned by the Holland family - if anyone has any ideas how I can find this please?

Thank you - always so helpful.
