Hi Caroline
reply from Tommy, Hunts Cross House nearest corner on Speke Rd Woolton was Ashton Dve, 3 properties listed then Hillfoot Rd, Hunts X.

1938 Directory has an Arthur Abel painter living there.
Looking at occupations, he may have been artist rather than a house painter.

The indexes for Ford Cemetery are on microfiche at the Liverpool Record Office, check the date for the entry you are looking for it and cross reference to find out who else is in the grave.

In the microfiche area you are looking for a black box, each entry identifies whether the burial was at Ford, YewTree or Ainsdale, the three RC cemeteries for the area.

Thanks all.

I just thought I would let you know, I have been to visit Hercules' grave today, in Kirkdale Cemetery!

I emailed the Council, and they did a look up for me.

Thanks for everyone's help, most appreciated.

Champion

Hi

It appears that his folks were James Champion born c 1802 Alverston Gloucestershire & Hester Brown b 1802 Tetbury Gloucestershire.

I think in his youth Arthur went by the name Thomas and this is why you cant find him..

There are quiet a few people doing the Champion tree on Ancestry..

Hi col
thanks for that info. Arthur Thomas was Hercules' father.
Then Hercules had a brother called Arthur Thomas too!
The men in the family all seem to have preferred their middle names!

I have done my tree pretty much now on the Champion side.
It's the more modern records that I need to find.
E.g death dates after 1940 of some people, and also some children.

Hi, I am new to this Board as I don't believe that I have any Liverpool connections. However, I did notice this thread re the Champion family and recognised a gt gt gt grandfather in Thomas Champion b. Chichester, Sussex, in 1804/05. He had a son, his youngest, named Arthur b. 01/1849 in Dorking, Surrey. He is the only one of the nine children I haven't tracked down. I wonder whether he went to Liverpool?
