The Mary Wynn I posted earlier is the entry above Mary Buchanan. Mary Wynn was born 14 April 1770 and christened 30 April 1770 the same day as Mary Buchanan.

Perhaps the 2 families lived next door to each other as it seems likely Matthew Buchanan and Elizabeth Wynn (Winn) were brother and sister.

Matthew Buchanan, surgeon, in prison for debt in 1774 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/iss ... 4/data.pdf (column2, towards the bottom).

"Formerly of the City of Chester, late of Liverpool".

Good find, RT,

I'm leaning towards Matthew the surgeon being the father of Elizabeth, he had a son Matthew born 1776 and died 1778, Liverpool, perhaps naming after a previous lost son but can't find one yet.

Goodness me. This is a lot to take in in one go. I was reading at the beginning of the link about debtors hoping to take advantage of an act of parliament. I do hope old Matthew got off with nothing more than a caution!
