Re: Mary & Jane, mangle keepers
Think you should look into their deaths and who recorded them?

Re: Mary & Jane, mangle keepers
Sorry Mary A. Got my thick head on today. Which deaths do you refer to?
Gareth.
Gareth.
Re: Mary & Jane, mangle keepers
I meant Jacob and Susannah, wondered whether as a legal spouse one may have registered the death of the other. It may have been quite unlikely though with bigamy involved but I would be curious if they were mine.

Re: Mary & Jane, mangle keepers
Ok Mary A.
I understand. One thing more, sorry to drag this thread on. There is a Susannah Fletcher imprisoned in Manchester for drunkenness. She was born in Liverpool at around the right time. Will give more detail when I can, the site I am using has gone wobbly on me. Perhaps some of team could have a look in the meantime. I think it was in the late 1870s before I lost things. Probably my end. The Isle of Wight is a lovely place to live but our internet leaves a lot to be desired.
Thanks . Gareth.

Re: Mary & Jane, mangle keepers
Have now retrieved the relevant page it is taken from Bell vue prison records, Manchester Gaol, Circa 1879. Its for Susannah Fletcher, born Liverpool Circa 1833. It would seem to be Jacob Fletchers first wife, would welcome a second opinion. Susannah and her Mum did finish up in Manchester. There is an article in British news papers on a latter case involving Susannah Fletcher in a drink related incident. It was on a broad sheet paper and I could not locate the article, it was very blurred, went to give it another go and cant find it again
Attached is part of that prison record. It says drunk and, I cant read the second bit. Can any of the forum with sharp eyes help out?
Thanks Gareth

Drunk & frivolous. 7 days or pay 5 shillings??It says drunk and, I cant read the second bit. Can any of the forum with sharp eyes help out?
In older context frivolous could mean silly in attitude or behaviour, likely falling about stupid smashed and making stupid comments. Also frivolous and lighthearted and dizzily flighty.

Would never have got that. Drunk and frivolous. Seven days or a fine, wow, there go I but for the grace of God.
Gareth.
