hmm so how did Mary have a child after she passed away?
could Julia really belong to one of the daughters and named her grandparents as parents?
do you have the actual birth certs of any of the children?

That's a good question Simone. I only have a couple of birth certificates and assumed that the baptism records were correct. They must have been desperate to have a "Julia". One born 22/04/1881 (a twin) died aged 8 moths. No.2 born December 1883 died aged 4 days buried 26/12/1883. No 3 born 22/5/1885 never married and died age 51 ( I have her Will) It is possible one of the daughters could have given birth to No 3 as I can find no GRO record to match the birth. The elder daughter had 3 illegitimate daughters before she married the first in 1889 named Julia  Question? would a Priest have mistaken a four day old for a year old :? Back to the drawing board me thinks

:( Hi Simone. I new I shouldn't have opened this can of worms at Halloween  The Mary Walsh you found who died in 1884 is not my one. There is a Will on line with Probate to her son William - she was a widow. How spooky that two Mary Walsh lived at the same address around the same time. Thank you once again for your help.

I don't believe in that sort of coincidence - I think they have got to be related somewhere, she may have been married to a brother of your Mary perhaps? You need to see if you can find a grave and who else might be buried with her, or follow her back through the censuses, see who she married etc.

Hi MaryA I don't believe in coincidence either. My family must have moved to Kew Street after the 1881 cencus because by 1891 parents are dead and the family fragmented. They are all at different addresses. According to the Administration for the Will on line Mary Walsh who died 1884 was a widow, he son William was living in Manchester. I cannot seem to find either Mary or William on other cencus as there are too many of them. Once again thank you all for your interest and help. yappie
