I am trying to read the occupation for ROBERT FOSTER, whose entry is the first on RG12/2999/29/p51.
He was head of the household at 17 Lear Road, off Binns Road.
The words 'Railway' and 'Stoker' are clear enough, but there is something in between.
Any clues, please?

Railway Engine Stoker? Looks like there were at least two attempts to write the occupation with insertions and then deletions. The second word written above and the right of Railway begins with an R? Or, is there just 3 upper case letters written over the description... R E P, which have been crossed out by the enumerator?
As for 'engine' I can 'see' the tail of the g and a possible doted i.

'Engine' would make sense. Probably the enumerator wanted to add his classification but only messed it up.
Thanks for helping.

Messy enumerators! I too can make out "ngine" even if the first letter E isn't clear, I think it has to be Engine.
