Liverpool Corporation

Post by AnnR »

Hi
I have just joined your forum to try to find out more about my 2nd Great Grandfather Edward Shelley. He was born in Ireland, so I cannot find anything about his Irish Ancestry.
In the 1861 census he lived at 7 Kent Square, Liverpool. He was 38 and described as a Clerk at the Corporation Office. I cannot find a marriage to Ann(e) (Garner/Shaw). After his death, Ann and the rest of the family moved to West Ham in London, where I come from.
I would like to find out more about Edward, especially what he did at the Corporation and more details about his Irish roots.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
Ann

There's a number of trees on Ancestry as Ann probably knows for the benefit of other researchers the son Edward Shelley was born on 7 Mar 1858 at Court 1 in Beau Street Liverpool and there's no sign of a marriage on any of these trees. Mother's birth name was Garner. She married Richard Shaw at Holy Trinity in Liverpool in 1841. Richard Shaw was in prison in 1851 perhaps he was still alive and Edward never married Ann?
