Not only is the memorial very impressive, but the whole event was a credit to the city and to the Memorial Appeal Committee.
The ceremony in the station was well done, with a splendid band and singer, and a few well-chosen words from speakers including HRH. Even the station's own PA system was hushed!
In St George's Hall afterwards HRH spoke to probably 99 percent of those assembled, and there were demonstrations of recruiting, trench life etc by re-enactors. In the Hall there were many collections of WW1 memorabilia on show.
Do have a look when near the station. The plaques are above the access point to the Wirral Line.

What a pity that both the TV regional news channels made a hash of their reports, 'St James's Hall', was just one. I also heard that a morning news item said the event was at Liverpool STREET Station, only 200 miles out.....
