Can one of our Military Experts give an explanation please

Post by MaryA »

Hi everybody, after all the hype about WWI you would think that I would understand things better by now, but that's not true and I would like to be set straight if you can.

First question is what exactly does the Qualifying Date relate to? is it a battle? an enlistment date?

Second is what do the Roll and Page references mean for the medals? do these have anything to do with the War Diaries - probably not.

Thanks for your help and guidance

The entries within the rubber stamp, top right, relate to the Medal Rolls, still held by Kew and not yet online. They might show a little more detail, sometimes the battalion number, but CWGC shows this soldier as 7th Battalion KLR.
