BOWSTEAD: January 22, of Pneumonia while on home leave italy, at 88, Leopold Road ORRIS WILLIAM only son of William James and Louisa Bowstead, of 8, Halbury Road. Deeply mourned by his loving Mother, Dad and sister Floss?

BOWSTEAD:- January 22. at 88, Leopold Road, eged 27 years of septic pneumonia, while on leave. ORRIS WILLIAM, the dearly loved husband of Emma Bowstead. Service to be held at St. Cyprians's Church, Interment at West Derby Cemetery at 3pm (Friends please accept this-the only intimation)
I cant make the verse out, can Amanda assist.

I will send a request to IFTC as he was still a soldier on Active Service.

Just to confirm that there is a medal index card for this man, but nothing on CWGC, or SDGW.
The MIC is indexed by Ancestry with first name as 'Orus', a misreading of the handwritten entry.
Good luck Katie with the referral to IFTC. The pneumonia will have to be linked to war service, which might be revealed on a death cert.

Sorry, lost track of this one, the online newspapers don't cover 1919 so I can't help with the verse. Has this been put forward for IFTC?

As Kathy pointed out, if the newspaper notice was right and he was home on leave it should be a clear-cut case.

I've contacted Terry Denham about this soldier, we'll see if they can follow up with the death certificate if not we'll have to try and raise some funds!
