Munition Factories

Post by SuzieB67 »

Hi All,

I am new to this site and into researching for information. I am trying to find out if you are able to access employee details for WW2 munition factories. Any help would be great.

Hi and welcome to the forum. It is far more difficult to obtain information dating from WWII than from earlier, so much is not available. Also the workers were civilians.

The National Archives may have some records about the Ministry of Munitions and Munitions Workers.

Googling found this interesting page with some photographs http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/kids ... _info.html and it makes me wonder if the museum - probably the one at the waterfront, might have some records.

The Record Office might just have a couple of items -
355.73 MUN Munitions of War Committee
Edge Lane National Shell Forging and Cartridge Case Pressing Factory

and same reference
Haymarket National Shell Factory
