Hi...Is it possible to see the records of admissions at 42 Belmont Road in the late 20's to 40's. I have the death cert of a family member who died there in 1949. there's a family story that she kept leaving her children and disappearing for months on end and because of the cause of her death on the cert I have my doubts.
Thanks in anticipation Ann

Thank you...I know Newsham general lived close by many years ago....will give the archives a go.The lady in question was my grandmother so would love to find out more about her illness. On her death cert after the cause of death it says PM and wondered could that be post mortem?

Post Mortems are carried out in cases of sudden death but there will only n=be an inquest if the PM throws up something if you see what I mean. A PM was done on my father but there was no inquest as the cause of death was obvious and nothing suspicious.
