Fulwood workhouse records

Is there any way of accessing the records for Fulwood workhouse and if so, what details would be recorded?
I have Mary Ann Kiernan, her mother and sister, both called Catherine,
in Fulwood workhouse in 1901. Catherine senior is listed as married but there is no sign of her husband, John. I know he was an ex-soldier listed as a 'Chelsea pensioner' in 1881. That's the only record of him.

Have you tried Lancashire Record Office? They are the most likely place to have records if they exist.

I have sent an e-mail today and will let you know what response I get.
I did Google the workhouse and from what I can see there maybe records and some Master's books at the Lancashire records office. It just depends if they cover the year in question.

Just thought I would update you on the search for workhouse records. I sent an e-mail to Lancashire records office using the link that Mary sent me. That was over a week ago and so far I've heard nothing not even an acknowledgement. I can only assume they are very busy.
Has anyone else tried to contact Lancashire by e-mail?

I just gave them a call on your behalf to see and they say they have not received your email, perhaps a digit was typed incorrectly in their address? they said that you should have received an automated response in acknowledgement immediately anyway. But she did tell me what they hold.

The reference which you can put into their online catalogue is PUT.

Sadly there is very little that survives and has been deposited with them, mostly administrative rather than for inmates and no admission, discharge or patient records.

Thank you for that, Mary. I must admit I thought it was strange that I had no response but I didn't get an undelivered message notification either. Just goes to show you can't always trust technology!
What a shame there is so little in the way of records. As the family in question were adults when they were inmates the only possibility is if the mother, Catherine Kiernan died when she was there. I'll give it a go and let you know. Once again thank you for taking the trouble, it's much appreciated.

Sadly those clearing out these old buildings, sometimes ready for demolition, just didn't think of the value of the records they were throwing in skips, we've heard of this happening on a number of occasions, I dread to think of all the valuable details just vanished.
