Looking for Lunts
Looking for Lunts
Harriet Lunt married Henry Peers at Toxteth Park St Michaels in 1863. Her father is given as Charles Lunt, mariner. I have the baptism of Georgina Harriet Lunt in 1828 at St Peters, father Charles, mariner and mother Ann.
Harriet is a servant in 1851.
I can't find any trace of her parents although I appreciate Charles may be away at sea.
There is a Harrietta Lunt in 1841 with Richard and Ann Lunt but this couple are, I think too young to be her parents. Could she be a niece staying with them whilst Charles is at sea?
Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks in advance
Barbara

Re: Looking for Lunts
Hi Tina
That's the right family. She seems to alternate between names.
I have had a sighting of Richard and Ann later on with a daughter Harriet but need to follow that up. I can't find anything on Charles but suspect it's because of his profession.
Thanks for the input both you and Mary.

Re: Looking for Lunts
Would this be the family in Birmingham? I have done a little work on them and know that Richard Lunt married Ann Needham in St Bride, Liverpool, and they had a number of children, apparently only Elisa (1839) and Harriet (1843) being born in Liverpool, the rest in Birmingham.Barbara B wrote: I have had a sighting of Richard and Ann later on with a daughter Harriet
I can't quite convince myself that this is the same couple, too many conflicts, 1841 census for YOUR Harriet stating that Richard and Ann were both born in Lancashire, your Harriet was obviously born prior to that census, although of course it is possible that they named one of their children after perhaps a niece? and the ages are totally out.
I could be persuaded to be corrected.

Re: Looking for Lunts
Don't forget that in the 1841 ages of anyone over 15 was to be rounded down to the nearest 0 or 5. So Ann the mother could be up to 34 and spouse Richard up to 29.Barbara B wrote:There is a Harrietta Lunt in 1841 with Richard and Ann Lunt but this couple are, I think too young to be her parents. Re: Looking for Lunts
I echo your thoughts Mary, I don't think Richard and Ann are the parents.
DS, I take your point but it still leaves me with Harriet's father shown as Charles on both her baptism and marriage.
I have a fair bit of info on the Peers' but Georgina Harriet's past is much more hazy. Ah well as someone here once famously said 'onwards and backwards!
Thanks for the help

Hope you won't come to blows!
I've trawled through what seems like hundreds of Lunts with no luck so far. He'll turn up one of these days.

That could be a very good clue, there are numerous Lunts in the Sefton area.dickiesam wrote: Last name: Lunt

I have copies of transcripts of Parish Register entries in St Helens church, Sefton which somebody was very good in getting me, but just to confirm that I find no baptism entry for a Harriet, nor a marriage for a Charles in this church.

Re: Looking for Lunts
Well done Sherlock DS! I bet that's him.
Mary, I found Harriet baptised in 1828 as Georgina Harriet and father Charles in Liverpool St Peter's. Have looked in IGI and OLPC for anything on Charles but no luck. There were some baptisms but without any other info it's just guesswork. I think I'll check back and see if there's an entry for Maghull.

Re: Looking for Lunts
Curses! There are two Charles Lunts baptised in Maghull but one of them is in1744 and the other is 1816. Given that Georgina Harriet was born in in 1828 that rules out both of them. Flippin' 'eck

Re: Looking for Lunts
We can rule out the younger then.
All the others are possibles but without anything concrete it's all just conjecture. Heigh ho! Wouldn't it be great if there was a Harriet or Georgina amongst the parents?
